    <title>Most Overused Words/Phrases of the Decade</title>

    <content type="html">At the turn of the century (the 21st century, that is), everyone was talking about Y2K, the computer bug that many feared would crash computer systems at the stroke of midnight on New Year&amp;rsquo;s Eve 1999, creating a world-wide apocalypse. That didn&amp;rsquo;t happen, of course, but &amp;ldquo;Y2K&amp;rdquo; became the first of many new overused words and phrases of the decade. After the jump, check out which other words and phrases people have been uttering way too much in the past 10 years.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;Wardrobe malfunction&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Status update&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Tweeted (as in &amp;ldquo;I just tweeted about that&amp;rdquo;)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&amp;ldquo;Cougar&amp;rdquo; to describe any attractive woman over the age of 35, who happens to be single, or any woman dating a man more than three years her junior.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The &amp;ldquo;clever&amp;rdquo; blending of two words to create one era-appropriate word, like &amp;ldquo;Staycation,&amp;rdquo; &amp;ldquo;bromance,&amp;rdquo; &amp;ldquo;Metrosexual,&amp;rdquo; &amp;ldquo;Recessionista,&amp;rdquo; and &amp;ldquo;Brangelina.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&amp;ldquo;I just threw up a little in my mouth.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Date Night&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Getting anything &amp;ldquo;on,&amp;rdquo; like &amp;ldquo;getting my drink on.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;All IM- and text-inspired abbreviations: OMG, TMI, WTF, LMAO, ZOMG, and the granddaddy of them all, LOL.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&amp;ldquo;Hot mess&amp;rdquo; to describe anyone a little attractive whose sanity &amp;mdash; or outfit &amp;mdash; is questionable. i.e., Juliette Lewis.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The shortening of words &amp;mdash; which we are definitely guilty of &amp;mdash; like &amp;ldquo;whatevs,&amp;rdquo; &amp;ldquo;obvi,&amp;rdquo; and &amp;ldquo;totes.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&amp;ldquo;That&amp;rsquo;s what she said.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Seriously. Seriously? Seriously.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The word &amp;ldquo;amazing&amp;rdquo; to describe anything that isn&amp;rsquo;t actually &lt;i&gt;amazing&lt;/i&gt;. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&amp;ldquo;That&amp;rsquo;s hot!&amp;rdquo;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Wuzzup!&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Un/Friended (as in &amp;ldquo;I friended/unfriended him on Facebook&amp;rdquo;)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Beyotch&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&amp;ldquo;Dude!&amp;rdquo; (as an exclamation or a greeting)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&amp;ldquo;What a douche.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&amp;ldquo;Voted off,&amp;rdquo; thanks, primarily, to the number of reality shows that vote members off the island/out of the house/off the show.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.thefrisky.com/post/246-most-overused-popular-phrases-of-the-decade/"&gt;http://www.thefrisky.com/post/246-most-overused-popular-phrases-of-the-decade/&lt;/a&gt;</content>

    <title>An Update!</title>

    <content type="html">Not much new with me but thought&amp;nbsp; I'd at least y'all know I am still alive :)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Work, home ownership and family has been occupying my time of late.&amp;nbsp; And I&amp;nbsp;think it's gonna get worse.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now that my dad is all better and leukemia-free, my mother has begun having an issue. She's been diagnosed with chronic bronchitis and she's having a hard time breathing. She no longer&amp;nbsp;can do&amp;nbsp;any housework or even go get their groceries. I asked her the other day how the garden was doing and she told me she didn't know because she was unable to walk out there. Of course she's been a smoker for over 60 years. She tried to quit but just couldn't do it, even knowing that's probably the only thing to help her at this point. She has an inhaler to use.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyway, I've been having this sense of dread lately that our days with her are numbered. She's tiny anyway, but now is looking extremely gaunt. So, I&amp;nbsp;think I'm going to start going down there every weekend. I want to spend as much time with her as I can in addition to helping my dad around the house. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'll still stay in town for the third weekend of every month for local activities, but while the weather is permittable I feel like I should be down there. And of course if there is something special going on up here, I'll work around it. I have a BBQ to attend here on the 4th and I've not been able to spend too much time with that group of folks for a while, so I'm coming back into town for that. We have off work on the 3rd, so I'll dash down home on the evening of the 2nd and return here the afternoon of the 4th.&amp;nbsp; I may be doing some extra driving in the months ahead but it feels like something I need to be doing. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And I&amp;nbsp;have another grandbaby on the way!!! Life is something else, I tell ya!</content>

Success.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Afterwards, I attended the NLA-Indy party. It's always a good time and the bright minds never cease to amaze me. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On Sunday I headed over to Depauw Univ. and met up with friends for The Who's Tommy&amp;nbsp;where our pal Veronica was directing the band. It was awesome and neat as hell to see Veronica in another element. She rocked it out, dudes :)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Then I hustled back to town for the IMAS munch. Met some more new folks and spent some time chatting with folks from Indiana Younger Kink about munch etiquette. I told them I only have one problem with their group and that is because I am too old! They snickered. God love 'em. :)&amp;nbsp; I'm particularly thrilled that there is such interest and they are rocking and rolling with their freak on.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;All righty then. A little over a week until Kinko de Mayo in Cleveland.&amp;nbsp; Wheeeeee!</content>
